Analyze needs

Analyze your current living situation carefully before you start work on the house. Otherwise, there is a risk of investing a lot of money in the wrong place.

It is best to consult an expert who assesses all areas and can then assess what needs to be remediated and what will last for a few more years.

It makes sense to plan several conversions at once instead of always having to do only small work. You save costs and effort.

Estimate costs

Renovation and remodelling work is expensive. It is, therefore, all the more important to know the cost framework precisely before starting construction. Obtaining offers or - in the case of larger projects - an architect's cost estimate create the necessary security here.

Also, think of enough financial reserves: a refurbishment always comes with surprises, even for experienced experts, and you may also have one or two additional requests during work. So do not fully exhaust the budget when planning the renovation

Include neighbours

Noise, dust and dirt are not only unpleasant for you, but also for your neighbours. The earlier and more openly, you inform them, the greater the tolerance. This also applies to construction site traffic. If access is blocked at certain times, you must warn your neighbours so that they can plan accordingly.

If you want to convert an apartment building, it is imperative to inform the tenants and residents in good time about the upcoming work. Depending on the scope of the conversions, you may have to provide the tenants with a replacement apartment for a certain period.

Do it yourself

If you help with the renovation yourself, you can save a lot of money. However, you should always do this in consultation with the craftsmen.

If you do not have your talent, you can still do a lot yourself. Clean up the rooms to be renovated, remove furniture if necessary or cover them. Mask difficult pieces or clear them out of the way.
